Festivals and rituals are most vital part of any country in the world .These festivals are celebrated with great zeal and zest. There are several kinds of festivals which are celebrated throughout the whole world everywhere. These festivals give so much pleasure to the people and play an integral part to keep people united and over the moon. Although the solar new year is the biggest festival in the world however China has huge population in the world. Similarly China has it’s own custom, tradition and festivals. One of the biggest festival in China is the Lunar New Year or Chinese New year.

What is Lunar New year? 

It is called Lunar New year because it is celebrated according to the Chinese calendar. Every year there is 10 days difference. So it is called Lunar year due to the Chinese Calendar that is according to the moon. 

Why it is called Spring Festival? 

Although, there is so much cold these days in China. So cold in the month of February then why it is called the Spring festival. The reason is that It is the starting of Spring. That’s why it is called Spring Festival.

When is the Spring Festival ?

Chinese New year will start from 12th  February 2021 this year. People will enjoy it with great zeal and zest. Chinese people will come back home whether they are in various parts of the country or different countries in the world. They always try to celebrate this festival with their own families. Young, old and children always feel great when there is new Year. 

What people do at the Festival? 

Chinese people always enjoy whether it is New year festival or mid autumn festival. But it is the festival in which people always try to return to their homes to celebrate this great festival. People make different foods and visit to their relatives. People always wake up to say hell to the New year. They always try to stop their children from getting sleep because they feel if they sleep good luck will gone forever. Children are very happy at this occasion, they get red packets which contains money.

Greetings of Chinese New year :

People say to each other “xin nian kuai Le”which means happy New year. If they are from hongkong they say ‘gongci fa cai “which means you remain wealthy. 

Superstitious about Chinese New year :

People say Chinese people don’t clean their homes at new year this is not true. It has been in the ancient history of China but people are modern now these days. They don’t pay attention to these kinds of superstitions. They clean their homes at ever occasion when it needs. Moreover, it is said young people throw carrots in the water for better life partner. This is also not the true. This is a kind of myth in the past which is totally rejected by modern Chinese people.
